At Connor's age, Christmas is truly magic! He had two, one at home and one at Mamaw and Papaw's house. He enjoyed them both and we were glad that Santa knew how to find him at both locations! He really understands the concept of opening presents...his, yours, and anyone’s. At Mamaw’s he showed that he is truly our “Texas Tornado” – he ran everywhere and had TONS of energy. In Chattanooga we stopped at the Tennessee State Aquarium. The aquarium was very well done and Connor really enjoyed it. He did well at both Mammoth Cave and Ruby Falls. Connor LOVES traveling in the RV! (Note: see separate posts for Christmas, snow, and cave pictures.)
Connor: November 2010 Dolphin Encounter

Lightning strikes twice! Mommy and Connor get their own private “dolphin dip”. Because of Connor's age, he does not get to be pulled around the lagoon by the dolphin, however he did get to step down onto the submerged platform and meet his new gray-faced friend with a backrub and a flipper shake. Through hand signals Mommy gave, Tanner and Kibby would dance, spin, splash and make dolphin sounds. They would even imitate Mommy and Connor! Connor was a tiny bit apprehensive at first, probably more to do with the water temperature, but then quickly engaged with the dolphins. Both Mommy and Connor received “treasures” from the dolphins. These treasures are pieces of rock and coral that the dolphins pick off the bottom. Mommy was not too sure about putting her hand in the dolphins mouth to get the treasure out—“they do have teeth!” Both really enjoyed this experience!

Connor’s big event for November was a vacation to Marathon Key, Florida. He LOVES to travel in the RV. Connor also got to see Grandma and Grandpa at Thanksgiving! On vacation we all went for an exciting airboat ride in the everglades, we went snorkeling at the base of the Sombrero Reef Light Tower, we visited a turtle hospital, and best of all, Hannah, Connor, and Mom all got to go swimming with the dolphins at the Dolphin Research Center -- home of the original Flipper. The current dolphins are direct descendants! Pictures of the airboat ride and the dolphin encounter are in separate posts. We really enjoyed these activities and highly recommend them.

August was a "homebody" month for us. We took it easy, stayed home, and Sissy started school.

July was an exciting month for us. We went on a big vacation in our motor home. We went down the Louisiana coast (we didn't see any oil) and then further south, following the Texas coast all the way to Corpus Christi, Texas. From there we wentnorth to San Antoniowhere we enjoyed the Riverwalk and visiting the Alamo. Connor has become a little mockingbird this month. He repeats everything he hears, or tries to anyway. He runs everywhere, now, wearing out his parents. He also completes sentences when we read him a book--even books he's only heard a couple times.

A long weekend trip to Pensacola was a major fun time for Connor and a great way to start June. Connor had lots of fun (and made a big mess) making a Father’s Day hand painting for his Dad. On the trip to Ohio, Connor had lots of fun playing with his cousin Shelby. He likes his little car so much that Aunt Becka and Uncle Stevie bought one so he could bring it home with him. He starting saying a lot more words and even making some small sentences.

After 3 weekends and several week nights, we completed the swing. The tallest deck is at 8 feet and measures 8x8 feet, while the smaller deck is 5x8 and is at 5 feet. We had to make a small “stool” for Connor to stand so he could reach the periscope. The kids love the swing and have spent many hours on it already. The first picture below was with my cell phone and is not the greatest. We will post a better photo along with the April pictures. Also, we decked in the whole bottom so the swing now has a floor. Underneath the lower deck we put Connors’ turtle sandbox. That has worked out well.

This month I turned two! I am not yet talking sentences, but I know tons of words. Dad thinks it is funny that I drop the first letter of most words. For example tire becomes “ire” and drink becomes “rink”. Don’t worry though, Mommy understands me just fine. Hannah and I are having more fun together every day. I am at the age were we can actually play together. We like playing cars and WII or some time just having a tea party together. I get all excited when Sis gets off the bus in the afternoon and really excited when Dad comes home. I even race to the door and squeal or yell Dad! (Dad tells Mommy that we better enjoy that while it lasts. What do you think he means by that?) I hope you enjoy my pictures. --Connor
